Art had never been a priority of mine. It was originally brought into my life as a hobby. My mother is really into crafts and every time she starts a new project she always seems to be at peace. As a kid, I always wanted to join her. Eventually, I managed to start drawing and painting on my own. She would always encourage it by surprising me with new paints, paint brushes, etc. My Freshman year of high school I began to take Art Foundations. It was the first time that I had to do any art for a grade. Well, at least a grade I cared for. As we got more into the year, I realized that this was going to be something that had the potential of perhaps becoming more than just a hobby. That is why I am now in IB Art. I am aware of all the hard work and time that has to be put into it in order to be successful. However, being in an environment where I could just express myself and liberate my creativity shouldn't hurt. |
